Hi! I’m Gonzalo.

I’m an Associate at the American Journalism Project, a new venture philanthropy organization aiming to reinvigorate local, public-service news, and its sustainability, throughout the US.

I’m passionate about using human-centered design, human-centered business models and engaged journalism to make public-service journalism more sustainable and community-focused.

I’m a recent graduate of NYU’s Studio 20 masters program focused on digital journalism & innovation, and I’m a researcher for and part of the core team of the Membership Puzzle Project.

I was also most recently a fellow at the American Press Institute, where I developed forthcoming guides for newsrooms around user research methods and pursuing audience revenue beyond subscriptions. I’ve also consulted for news startups on their early-stage business models and audience revenue strategies, and I have worked as an audience engagement editor and a reporter.

I graduated in 2017 from The New School with a BBA in Strategic Design and Management and a minor in Journalism + Design.
